Christmas gifts for patients

Thank you for your interest in supporting University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust this Christmas.

The best gift you can give to the hospital this Christmas is a donation. We rely on charitable donations to enhance the support, care and treatment of patients and to provide support to areas of the hospital that lie beyond the scope of NHS funding throughout the year.

We raise money to fund specialist equipment, ward refurbishments and improvements, support for our patients, family and staff, as well as pioneering research.

We suggest that the money goes to our general purpose fund so that we can spend the money in the area of the hospital where it is needed the most. However, you can specify an individual ward or department if you would prefer:
  • Call us on 023 8120 8881 to make a donation by card.
  • Write a cheque made payable to “Southampton Hospital Charity” and post this to: Southampton Hospital Charity, Mailpoint 135, Southampton General Hospital, Southampton, SO16 6YD.
  • Send a bank transfer. Please email us at Charity@uhs.nhs.uk or call 023 8120 8881 to ask for the bank transfer details. We will also provide you with a reference.

We also have an Amazon Wishlist where you can buy pre-requested items and have them delivered directly to the Charity Office for distribution to the wards: http://amzn.eu/1MxaciG

Donating Gifts

However, if you do decide to donate presents we ask that you bring them along to the charity office - based in the main entrance of Southampton General Hospital (SO16 6YD) just behind the pink wall, first office on the left. We’re open Monday – Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm. Outside of these hours, you can go to the hospital security team (next door to our office on the corner) and they will let you into our office to drop of presents - if you know you have an out-of-hours drop off, please let us know so we can give your details to the security team - thank you.

Unfortunately we cannot take any second hand or used items for infection prevention purposes.

Helpful Hints:

  • We ask that all gifts are received into the hospital by Friday 13 December 2019. All gifts will be checked, wrapped and distributed around the hospital for our medical staff to give to patients on Christmas Day.
  • Please do not wrap the gifts. All wrapped gifts will have to be unwrapped so that we can match your gift to an appropriate patient. We would gratfully receive wrapping paper and cellotape for our volunteers and staff to wrap the presents though.
  • Please keep the cost of each gift under £10 where possible. It is preferable to give patients multiple smaller gifts rather than one large gift.
  • You won’t be allowed to donate gifts directly to the patients.
  • We cannot take any second hand or used items.
  • Unfortunately we are unable to pay for the cost of collecting your gifts or delivering them to the hospital.

THANK YOU!

We rely heavily on support from our local community, and donations like yours make a real difference. Once again, thank you so much for your support. We really couldn’t deliver the same level of care to the patients and their families without the incredible generosity of our amazing supporters.
