MasterChef winner cooks up a feast for charity

MasterChef 2012 winner, Shelina Permalloo, has teamed up with Southampton Hospital Charity to host a special dinner on Monday (29 April).

The evening was held with corporate partners, local bloggers, and charity fundraisers to inspire the local community to get involved with the charity’s Dine at Mine campaign.

It is hoped people will be encouraged to host themed or quirky dinner parties at home, or coffee mornings in their workplace to raise money for the local hospital.

Guests were treated to a special three course sharing menu at Shelina’s restaurant, Lakaz Maman (Bedford Place, Southampton) sampling a range of Mauritian delicacies.

Shelina comments: “I’m very proud to be an ambassador for Southampton Hospital Charity’s Dine at Mine campaign. This event has enabled me to showcase my passion for cooking and getting involved with the local community.”

Alice Spake, lead Southampton Blogger, said: “The evening was great fun, the food was delicious, and the charity helped us to play a whole host of games which can easily be played at home with friends! These included Who am I?, heads and tails, and Chinese whispers!”

Beth Hall, head of fundraising at Southampton Hospital Charity, said: “This special Dine at Mine event was a great way to spread the word about our campaign. We’re hoping will give people that extra push to host their own event at home.”
