Barratt Homes donates over £21,000 to cancer ward

We want to say a massive thank you to Barratt Homes for their continued support of our C3 Hamwic cancer ward.

Barratt Homes donation allows charity to buy cancer chairsThey held a second successful golf day earlier this year for the ward, which raised an incredible £21,477 with over 100 golfers attending the event and evening party.

Beth Hall, Head of Fundraising at Southampton Hospital Charity, said: “We were absolutely thrilled when we heard how much had been raised for the C3 Hamwic ward. That kind of money can make a huge difference, and it has already been earmarked to help us refurbish a disabled toilet to make it fit for purpose in the waiting area. A huge thanks to everyone at Barratt Homes for their continued support.”

Richard Langton from Barratt Homes, who recieved treatment on the ward himself only last year, said: “Being able to make gestures like this is one of the most rewarding things about working for a company like Barratt. Having recieved treatment for cancer at Southampton General Hospital myself. I know first hand that the money raised will make a difference not just to patients, but their families too.”

It’s not the first time Barratt Homes has supported the ward. Last year the company, which is building new homes across the region, donated more than £17,900. It meant the hospital was able to buy ten new comfy chairs, which patients use while receiving their chemotherapy treatment.

Thank you so much for your support and all that you do for our cancer patients.
