Information evening about trekking Peru in 2019

Join Southampton Hospital Charity as we trek the Inca Trail in Peru. This is a breathtakingly beautiful route through the valleys and high passes, scattered with fascinating Inca ruins.

If you would like to learn more about this fantastic opportunity, please attend our information evening on Wednesday 26th September at 7.00pm within the Heartbeat Lecture Theatre, North Wing, Southampton General Hospital.

Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic sights in South America, and the culmination of our magnificent Inca Trail trek through the Peruvian Andes:

Trekking on Inca-paved paths and steps, our route takes us up through lush cloud forest to the demanding Dead Woman’s Pass (4200m). Continually climbing up or dropping down, our way is steep at times, and the altitude adds to the challenge. We finally come to the Sun Gate, which overlooks Machu Picchu, where your first magical glimpse provides an unforgettable reward for your efforts.

The trek duration is for ten days and is graded as 3-tough (Challenging  - Grade 1 to Extreme - Grade 5). Permits for the Inca Trail are restricted and must be secured months in advance, so sign up in good time!

Make a difference for your ward or department, and trek with us on Friday 18th October 2019 for ten days.

If you would like to attend please do RSVP to charity@uhs.nhs.uk and we will respond with full details of the evening. Alternatively if you would like to confirm your place on the Trek please follow this link.
