Carol singing gift for hospital
At a recent lunch meeting of the Rotary Club of Romsey Judith Stephens, Events and Community Fundraising Officer with Southampton Hospital Charity Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department Appeal, addressed the Club when she expressed her delight and thanks to be receiving a cheque for £6,000 resulting from the Club’s Carols in the Market Place event held last December.
The evening produced record takings of £3,000 which were matched by the Club pound for pound and thanks to similar matching by the Government the effective total has now become £12,000.
The Appeal has reached its halfway target of £2 million and will soon be able to commence work on the project in early 2018. Fundraising will continue for the next £1 million, which will also be matched by the Government. The end result will be a dedicated world class Childrens Emergency and Trauma Department for the region.
