Golf day a swinging success
A fun action-packed day of golf and music was held at Paulton’s Golf Course, raising £15,000 for the D3 cancer ward at Southampton General Hospital. This will be put towards a bladder scanner for the unit.
The day went fantastically well with over 90 golfers playing under a lovely blue sky followed by a raffle, and to end the night an auction with some great pieces up for grabs.
A quick rundown of the day starts with the golfer’s breakfast before they teed off for an 18 hole around Paulton’s Golf Course. Whilst in play, the golfers had a chance at winning various items on some of the 18 sponsored holes including vouchers, cash and even a BRAND NEW car courtesy of Peter Green Volkswagen, which was won this year!
After the golf the BBQ was lit and the evening’s entertainment proceeds with the raffle. This included meals out, bottles of alcohol, days out, home equipment, toys, vouchers and much.
The auction was held during the bands interval with items such as signed saints footballer boots, various sporting memorabilia from the world of boxing and motorsport, celebrity items, a private charter on a Sunseeker yacht for the day, and even a holiday to Switzerland!
This event really was for all the family, so those who weren’t golfers could enjoy a drink in the evening and see the band play. A massive thank you to all in the Estates department at Southampton General Hospital, they alone raised £500 from raffle tickets and prize donations.
This couldn’t be achieved without some great local spongers including Blue Funnel cruises, Southampton FC, Ringwood Brewery, Hampshire Cricket Club, Peter Cooper Volkswagon and so many more. Thank you to everyone who donated - it wouldn’t be possible without you!
Next year’s event has already been booked in at Paulton’s Golf Course on 30 July 2017.
