Riding for our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
Congratulations to the Matthew’s tribute bike ride cyclists for raising £2,380. The riders took on the 90 miles from Banbury to Southampton to show support for the hospitals where their son was treated.
Matthew was an identical twin and born on the 28 July 2015 at the Horton General hospital in Banbury. Unfortunately when he was born it was discovered he had constricted TAPVD. This is a severe heart condition that required immediate surgery and time on life support. This is where his journey from Banbury Special Care Baby Unit to Southampton and the amazing Paediatric Intensive Care Unit began.
After two days despite everyone's best efforts the family sadly lost their little boy.
The family wanted to raise as much money as possible for the hospitals, as they are places that can change people’s lives. The challenge was also an opportunity to acknowledge their special angel, who is forever in their hearts and minds. A special mention to mum Stacy and dad Karl as they both did an amazing job and made their son very proud.
There is still time to support them here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Stacy-Howarth1
