September bumper month for hospital legacy gifts
Not only is September Southampton Hospital Charity’s annual Write Your Will Month, but this year autumn has brought a windfall in the form of a £150,000.00 legacy gift.
The gift will be used to provide much needed TV and entertainment systems for the children’s wards at Southampton General Hospital, along with other medical equipment and provisions for the future care of our patients.
Matron Cath Battrick explains: “We are very grateful for this legacy. Words cannot describe the impact this will make to the children in our care. Individual wards have been campaigning to buy TVs and fit the internal aerials and purchase the licences for a while now, but this legacy means that we can now provide this to all of our children’s wards.
Hospital is never somewhere that you want to be, and for our children, entertainment is a must to take their mind off what might be going on. It is going to be an exciting few months ahead!”
It’s not too late to participate in the charity’s will writing month. Local solicitors are waiving their usual fees in exchange for a donation to the charity.
After providing for your loved ones, the charity also hopes that supporters will include a gift to Southampton Hospital Charity in their will. Donating just 1% of the residue of your estate or as much as you can spare will make a huge difference.
