Our Southampton and London running army
We want to say a massive thank you to our army of runners who took part in the Southampton 10k, Southampton half marathon, and London marathon on Sunday 26 April.
We had six runners with their own places in the London Marathon, raising just over £6,000 for various wards and departments for Southampton Hospital Charity.
The first ever Southampton half marathon event also pulled in a massive crowd and we hope this will start to become a proud tradition for the city.
Our 68 runners raised over £18,500 for our various wards and departments, and the money is still rolling in!
Suzie Simmons, fundraising manager, comments: “Wow, what a day! A massive congratulations to all our runners today at the Southampton half marathon and London marathon.
It was great to finally meet some of you in Southampton, and as always we cannot thank you enough for your support. Hope you all enjoyed yourself and all the training and hardwork paid off. It truly was a fantastic day!
Our very own fundraiser, Brian Underwood, also managed to come third in the men’s competition, pictured above holding his trophy, raising money for our neonatal unit where his daughter Amber sadly passed away in 2014. Larissa Hirst, Miss Hampshire, also took on the Southampton half marathon, raising money for our C3 Hamwic ward in support of the cancer treatment her boyfriend had received."
