Local solicitors raise over twice as much as expected!
Following the success of last years' Write Your Will Week, Southampton Hospital Charity held a month long fundraiser aimed at giving supporters the opportunity to have their will professionally written or updated.
Fifteen local solicitors supported the initiative and raised over £6,000 for wards and departments across Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Hospital.
Jacqui Cammish, fundraising officer says: "This years' Write Your Will Month exceeded our expectations. From the generosity of the solicitors giving their time for free, to the generosity of our supporters in donating over £6,000, we are absolutely thrilled!
It's incredible to think that just 36% of people say they have made a will, so each year we would like to give our supporters the opportunity to make provision for their loved ones in their will and support their local hospitals at the same time."
Various areas of the hospital will benefit from the funds raised. New TVs will be purchased for patients on the medicine for older people wards at Southampton General Hospital.
Kate Boot, ward manager says: "The TVs will make all the difference for our patients by helping to alleviate boredom and make the environment more of a home from home for them."
If you would like to donate to the TV fundraising drive for elderly patients, please contact Southampton Hospital Charity on 023 8120 8881.
A big thank you to everyone who had their will written in September and donated.
