Starbucks supports charity endevours
Local Starbucks in Southampton has supported the Southampton Hospital Charity C3 Hamwic ward appeal to raise £15,000 for new waiting area chairs.
Over the course of the week, Starbucks have held various events to encourage their regulars to donate towards the charity.
- Jazz night
- Static bike ride
- Collection pot ask of customers
Victoria Greenshields, fundraising manager, commented: “We are thrilled that our local Starbucks has chosen to support Southampton Hospital Charity by doing a mock charity bike ride between Southampton and Bath.
The C3 Hamwic Ward at Southampton General Hospital is where around 80% of our chemotherapy patients receive treatment. Unfortunately the waiting area chairs are in poor repair, so we are currently raising money to buy new chairs. This will greatly improve the patient’s experience and mean that we help make them as comfortable as possible while they wait for treatment.”
Colin Hooper, Retail Business Manager, Starbucks, added: "The team had great fun last week raising funds for the Southampton Hospital Charity. After a mammoth day of cycling on Wednesday where the team cycled to Bath on a bike kindly loaned by Frank at Red Fitness Centre, the team played host on Thursday to a jazz and acoustic evening at their London Road Starbucks coffee shop.
Along with a raffle which prizes were generously donated we, along with our customers and supporters have raised in excess of £900."
